The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) has approved a 20 pesos across the board wage increase for workers in the Central Visayas. The increase will take effect 15 days after the publication of the order. Once the order takes effect, the new minimum wage in Cebu will 305 pesos up from 285. The RTWPB is made up of representatives from the labor sector, management, and government agencies.
Many labor groups expressed their disappointment with the minimal increase while opinions also suggested that the increase could lead to closures.
