National Issues: Will the Mamasapano Massacre affect the BBL?

28 Jan

A few days ago, the Philippine National Police- Special Action Force lost several fine officers after a botched police operation in Mamasapano, Maguidanao. The death over 40 policemen has shocked the country and several people use the incident to hurl criticisms to the P-Noy administration, the MILF, and the proposed Bangsomoro Basic Law (BBL).  There many groups being organised to reject the BBL.

There were at least 2 Cebuanos who died in the Mamasapano clash. The PNP-SAF casualties are from all over country.  Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao were represented.

Will the incident become a tipping point of the ongoing peace process? The Noynoy Aquino Administration will always be remembered with this incident and how they handle the situation will have a major implications on the BBL and the 2016 elections.

Should the current administration pursue the BBL this year? What do you think???

Why there were no survivors? Normal battle should have had at least wounded policeman. All totally dead and abused. Guns, pants and other belongings stolen from the dead policeman.

MILF ignored cease fire call from the monitoring team. What totally committed to peace talk are they saying?

The situation is really sad and it would probably be hard to pinpoint who killed the 44 brave men. I don’t think those people will get arrested and be turned over to our criminal justice courts. Who will serve the warrants if they got the names of the perpetrators.
