Asian Chess Clubs Champions League: Kim Steven Yap grab Board Honors; Tagaytay-Philippines places 2nd

Al Ain, UAE– The Philippines has once again showed that the country is a force to reckon with when it comes to chess. Philippines Tagaytay Chess Club finished 2nd behind India PSPB in the 2014 Asian Chess Clubs Champions League. Kazakhstan Tokkata finished 3rd, a full-point behind the Filipinos.  The tournament used a point system based on wins and loses between match-ups. A win would be worth 2 points while a draw is given 1 point.  Philippines Tagaytay Chess Club 4 wins , 3 draws and no loses. PSPB had 6 wins along with a lone draw which was against the Philippines.  Tokkata had 5 lopsided wins but they lost to India and the Philippines relegating then to 3rd place.

FINAL-RANK

Team Tagaytay was lead by Cebuano IM Kim Steven Yap who won gold in Board 2 by contributing 5.5 points to the Filipino cause.  He is backstopped by fellow International Master Emmanuel Senador who got 5.0 points which earned him a Board 4 silver medal. Here are the other board medallists:
