2014 WPA World 9 Ball Championship: Haya lone Filipino left

Al Saad Sports Club, Doha, Qatar – Elmer D. Haya is the lone Filipino in the semifinals of the 2014 WPA World 9 Ball Championship.  He entered the semis after beating fellow Filipinos in the Round of 16 and the quarterfinals. He beat Raymund Faraon in the Round of 16, 11-8 then capped his successful day with an 11-7 victory over Johann Chua.

Carlo Biado was the third Filipino quarterfinalist but he fell to Neils Feijen of The Netherlands, 11-7. Feijens and Haya will face off for a spot in the finals. 2013 World 9 Ball runner-up Antonio Gabica lost in the Round of 16 to Albin Ouschan of Austrian, 10-11. Ouschan faces Chang Yu Lung of Taipei in the other semifinal match-up.
