It is October once again and we once again celebrate Pink October. Pink October is a worldwide campaign to increase breast cancer awareness. Tomorrow, a fun run dubbed as the Pink October Run will be held at the Ayala Terraces. This the 7th edition of the run organized by the Philippine College of Surgeons (PCS) and the Philippine Society of General Surgeons (PSGS)-Cebu Chapter. The proceeds of the run will fund the different programs of both organizations in breast cancer awareness and some of the proceeds will also be used to help the victims of the magnitude 7.2 earthquake that hit region earlier this week.
There will be a donation booth for the earthquake victims at the event and people who are interested to help out can give cash or kind. Many victims in Bohol need food, water, medicines, and blankets.
The 7th Pink October Run will have 3 distances – 3k, 6k, and 12k. Participants of tomorrow’s run are reminded to bring their own water bottles since the race organizers will not provide plastic cups in the hydration stations. This is done as a way to help preserve the environment by discouraging the use of disposal plastic cups that are non-biodegradeable and could be harmful to the environment.
Assembly time for the run is at 5 am in the morning and all races will start at 5:30 am. There will be special prizes for the best pink runner and the best selfie race picture. Don’t forget to bring your water bottles and your camera phones. See you at the race!
