Slaughter and NLEX wins 2012-13 PBA D-League Aspirant’s Cup

Former UV Green Lancer Greg Slaughter added another title in his very successful amateur basketball career as he joined his teammates at NLEX in sweeping  the Cagayan Valley Rising Suns.  The title is the fourth straight for the star-studded NLEX Road Warriors in the PBA Developmental League. The team is composed of probably the best collegiate stars in the country and is being coached by Boyet Fernandez.

NLEX ended the surprising run of Cagayan Valley which made it to the finals one conference after finishing last. The Road Warriors beat the Rising Suns 82-71 in the Game 2 to sweep their best of 3 finals series. Garvo Lanete and Borgie Hermida combined for 27 points to pace the Road Warriors.  Slaughter and Conference Best Player Ian Sangalang supported them with 9 points a piece.  The Rising Suns were led by former SWU Cobra Eliud Poligrates.  The Cebuano guard finished with 21 points and 5 rebounds.

Other members of NLEX include Ateneo Blue Eagle’s Kirk Long and Nico Salva, FEU’s RR Garcia, San Beda’s Jake Pascual and Baser Amer, San Sebastian’s Ronald Pascual, Letran’s Kevin Alas, and Adamson’s Eric Camson.
