Bagyong Quinta: Northern Cebu placed under storm signal No.2

Public storm signal No. 2 is hoisted over Northern Cebu and nearby islands as the low pressure area threatening the Philippines in the past few days intensified into a Tropical Storm.  Tropical Storm Quinta (international name: Wukong) has been spotted near Leyte island late afternoon on Christmas day. It is expected to cross the Visayas overnight and will affect the region’s weather in the next 2-3 days. PAGASA has put several areas under storm signal No.2 while Cebu is currently under Signal No.1.

Residents in the affect areas are advised not to take the tropical storm lightly and should be alerted for possible landslides and flashfloods specially in mountainous and low lying areas.
