After a disastrous Round of 64 where 8 of 13 were eliminated including 2 against Chinese-Taipei bets, the Filipino cue masters exacted some sort of revenge in the Round of 32 by eliminating 2 Taipei pool players.  Dennis Orcollo won 11-8 against Hsu Kai Lun and Cebuano Antonio Gabica eliminated Yang Ching Shun, 11-6.  Gabica and Yang’s battle was a match between former Asian Games Gold medallists. Gabica won the Asian Gold in 2006 while Yang won it in 1998 and 2002. Jundel Mazon also made it to the Round of 16 by beating Russian Konstantian Stepanov, 11-3 while Lee Van Corteza will be going home with $3,500 after losing to Mika Immonen.  Efren Reyesalso was also ousted in the Round of 32 via hill-hill encounter vs. Jentsch Dominic.  The loss of Reyes was a heartbreaker but nevertheless, the Philippines is the most represented country in the Top 16 with 3 cue masters left.  Top 16 matches are being played as of the moment.
