At around 12 noon today, a mild tremor jolted the residents of Cebu. Based on the last Phivolcs (Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology) data, the Philippines had 87 earthquakes in January and 13 in the current month. There has been no official update yet about the latest earthquake.
Update: The earthquake was magnitude 6.8 according to USGS. http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/Quakes/usb0007wgq.html
2pm update: Some people in Cebu City went to the streets fearing Tsunami because some irresponsible individuals are spreading false information about water in Colon and Carbon. There is no truth to that and the Philippines is only under tsunami warning 2; meaning, waves will be raised by less than a meter. Residents in the Western coast of Cebu and the Eastern coast of Negros are advised to stay 20 meters away from the sea.
As of 3 pm, the Tsunami Alert was lifted by Phivolcs.
