After the 3rd runner-up finish of Binibining Pilipinas-Universe Shamcey Supsup in the recent Miss Universe pageant held in Brazil, a major local beauty contest will crown the lady who will represent the Philippines in the Miss World pageant. In the past years, the representative for the Miss World was picked during the Binibing Pilipinas pageant. This year marks the first time that the representative will be be picked through a different pageant in Miss World Philippines. Cory Quirino heads the company that will manage the Miss World franchise in the Philippines.
There are three Cebuanos among the 25 finalists for the crown. The Cebuano candidates are:
- Candidate No. 5 Rogelie Catacutan representing Cebu City. She stands at 5’7″ with a vital statistic of 33-24.5-34. The 20 year old model represented the Sinulog festival in the 2011 Aliwan Fiesta and won Reyna ng Aliwan pageant early this year. She is a Nursing graduate of University of San Jose- Recoletos (USJ-R). Rogelie was 3rd runner-up in the 2010 Miss Cebubeauty contest and she won the Miss Photogenicand Miss Friendship awards in the most prestigious pageant in Cebu.
- Candidate No. 6 Richelle Therese Borja represents Toledo City. Her weight is 5’8″ and she has a vital static of 33.5-28.5-36. She was a candidate of Miss Mandaue way back in 2006 when she was still 17 years old.
- Candidate No. 18 Donna Maricel Cardino. The 22 year old candidate from Mandaue City stands at 5’7.5″ and measures 34-28-35.5. She is the current Miss Mandaue. Ms. Donna Cardino was also a 2nd runner-up in the 2008 Miss Tagbilaran. She finished with a degree in tourism in Holy Name University, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.
