The families of the two pilots of the fateful crash involving DILG secretary Jesse Robredo will have to wait a little longer to see the bodies of their loved ones as retrieval operations were halted due to a minor accident involving one of the foreign divers. German diver Danny Brumbach collapsed in the diving operations due decompression sickness and as a precaution the retrieval operations for the remains of Captain Jessup Bahinting and co-pilot Kshitiz Chand were halted. Brumbach was taken to the decompression chamber onboard the Philippine Coast Guard vessel BRP EDSA 2 and he has able regain consciousness after a while. He is now in stable condition. Retrieval operations will resume tomorrow morning.
Earlier in the day, the technical divers successful recovered the body of Secretary Robredo. The DILG Secretary’s body was found at a depth 180 feet around 800 meters from the shore. His remains were taken to his hometown Naga City, Camarines Sur, the destination of his ill-fated flight. His body now lies in state at the Archbishop’s Palace in the same city.
