Reunions: CIS 1st Alumni Homecoming


The Cebu International School (CIS) is inviting all former students to attend its 1st Annual Alumni Homecoming on July 28 at 4:30 to 8 pm at the CIS Dragon’s Dome at the CIS campus in Pit-os, Talamban. The theme of the gathering is “Celebrating our Legacy”.  The event will be a great time for former students of Cebu International School and Cebu American School to catch up and reminisce with old batch mates and schoolmates about their wonderful memories at school.  Attendees will be able to witness the launching of the updated Alumni page on CIS website and the unveiling of the CIS amphitheater model.

Saturday results:

Here are the champs in the first day of competitions of the 2012 Cebu International School (CIS) Friendship Cup:

Men’s open:  Subangdaku Football Club (SFC) B. SFC B won over KN Ferraren, 3-1 via penalty shootout.

Girl’s 17: Cebu International School. CIS won a 1-0 squeaker over Subangdaku Football Club.

Boy’s 14: Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC).  In the final match SHS-AdC won over Villa del Rio 2, 2-0.

Players 10: Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC). SHS-AdC frustrated Bright Academy with a 2-0 win.

Boy’s 12: Canduman. Canduman denied  SHS-AdC’s bid for 3 titles with thrilling 1-0 penalty shootout win.

Players 8: Guiseppe FC. Guiseppe FC beats Canduman, 3-1 to go home with a title.

Sunday Results:

Players 6 action

Players 6: Bright Minds Active Learning Village. Bright Minds beat Guiseppe FC to capture the youngest division.

CIS beats SHS-AdC for the Girl's 14 title

Girl’s 14: Cebu International School. CIS defended their turf with a win over  Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu in the Girl’s 14 final match. CIS captured both Girl’s 14 and 17 titles.

Boy’s 17: Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC). SHS-AdC bagged its third title of the tournament by denying Bright Academy.

Women’s Open: University of San Carlos. USC prevented a double by the Subangdaku Football Club as they beat the latter via penalty shootout.  USC added the diadem to their collection as they won in the San Roque Cup, Sinulog Cup and Thirsty Cup for this school year alone.

The BPO division was won by Accenture A over Teletech while the over 40′s division title was captured by the Queen City United after beating Cebu Union B.

Sports Event: Cebu International School Friendship Cup

The Cebu International School (CIS) hosted a football festival last weekend.  Many schools, clubs, and companies sent teams to compete in different divisions. The weather was great for football all week long.
I went to see the Sunday games because my wife’s pupils were playing. Sunday and football is indeed a perfect match. I was able to witness the games for the player 6, women’s open, girl’s 14, and BPO divisions. The matches were very competitive and I really had a great time watching the 6 year olds. I can see many future football stars from Cebu. Another nice thing about the mini-tournament is that weather was really good and the pitch was perfect for the beautiful game.
My wife’s students did not win a game but I can see in their faces that they had fun.  The Children’s Paradise Montessori School team has improved and hopefully someday they can be a force to reckon with in kid’s football. Here are some of pictures I took during the CIS Friendship Cup:
