After a suffering its first defeat in its “drive for five” campaign, the Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU) Blue Eagles came out with all guns ablaze to rout Season 75 hosts NU Bulldogs, 89-65. The win was their second in three games this season while bringing back NU to ground after its opening day rout of UE.
Ateneo opened the game with an 8-0 run and ended up leading 28-17 after the first period. They outscored the Bulldogs 27-17 in the second quarter to stretch the lead to 21. From then on, the Eagles cruised to a lopsided 89-65 victory in a game dubbed to be a potential finals preview.
The Blue Eagles were led by its Big 3. Season 74 Final’s MVP Nico Salva had 21 points. Season 74 Rookie of the Year Kiefer Ravena had 17 points, six rebounds and five assists. Season 74 Mythical 5 member and former UV Green Lancers standout Greg Slaughter had 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 assists. Season 74 MVP Bobby Ray Parks led the Bulldogs with 22 points.
The loss was NU’s 9th straight defeat to the Blue Eagles. With the win, the Blue Eagles tied rivals DLSU Green Archers at 2nd place with a 2-1 record.
